Presentation of findings from report on the impact of the armed conflict and occupation on children’s rights in Ukraine

Today we discussed the findings from our recent report on the impact of the armed conflict and occupation on children’s rights in Ukraine. The report covers the period from 24 February 2022 to 31 December 2024.

"Ukrainian children have endured vastly different wartime experiences and different rights violations: some as refugees in Europe, others under bombardment and continued threats, and many subject to the coercive laws and policies applied by Russian authorities in occupied areas,” Noel Calhoun, Deputy Head of our Mission, said today.

Guest speakers included:

📍  Iryna Suslova Representative for the Rights of the Child, Office of the Ukrainian Parliament Commissioner for Human Rights;

📍 Mariia Sulianina, Head of Almenda;

📍 Kseniia Kornienko Lawyer, Regional Center for Human Rights;

📍Kaitlin Brush, Child Protection in Emergencies Manager, UNICEF Ukraine.

The panelists discussed practical steps that could be taken by Ukraine and by the international community, both now and during peace negotiations to restore the rights of children.
